What is church like? David Rigby’s message on Sunday was broken up into 4 different sections, all relating to what we are to be like, as the Church
1. Cosmic - Eph 1v19-20, Eph 3v10-11 God has appointed Jesus to be the head over all things IN ORDER THAT the Church can fulfil its calling. Jesus’ life, death and resurrection has affected all of creation. The Church exists now as the body of Christ on the earth. Looking at the Church from this perspective it’s easy to see how valuable we are to God, and also recognise the responsibility that we have.
* In what ways can the Church act as the body of Christ on the earth? * How can we take our place in this, if we’re not sure of our calling? * Why is it so important that we are proactive as members of the Church?
2. Charismatic Acts 1v6-8 We have power Although we might not necessarily always seeit in our everyday lives, it remains true that Jesus still reigns, and that he has all authority, and that he has given us the Holy Spirit.
* Why don’t we see God acting powerfully more often in our lives? * What can we do to ensure that we do see more of Gods power?
3. Community 1Pet 2v9 – We are called to be a community of God’s people, what greater privilege!
* What are the differences that should be visible between a community of believers, and a community of unbelievers? * To what extent do you think these differences are visible within the church, and what can each of us do to make them even more so?
4. Bride of Christ Rev 9v7 The wedding feast of the bride has come
* How should the hope that we have for the future affect the way that we live today?
